yes folks, it's the first Bleach game for the Nintendo DS....We're behind the times, but are bringing back some of the old review content from the original DS-Play :)
yes folks, it's the first Bleach game for the Nintendo DS. I'm quite aware the second very recently was realized, but since i just got it, here's my review of bleach ds!.

1.GAMEPLAY: When you think of gameplay for this game, think of classic games like street fighter or Capcom vs Snk. Bleach is very much a technical fighter in it's fighting basics. It takes much skill and practice to pull off even normal combos. But this is where the game shines, the game has a rather "open" combo system. In this you can link combos together or even make new ones!, all you need to do it time it right. The characters all fight differently and are very well animated. And as a last note, there are numerous possible combos for each character (over 50 if you practice well enough).

2. CHARACTERS: There's 27 characters, all from the second SS ark of the popular anime/manga. And the amazing thing is...They all have different moves and attacks. From Renji''''s ranged based attacks that mimic the shows moves perfectly, to Hitsu''''s ice attacks, to Byakkuaya''''s powers. All besides two are varied and quite different.

3. TOUCH SCREEN FUNCTIONS: Well it's kinda basic here, ya see there's a card system implemented into the game. although you may say "sounds like jus", it''''s not. Personally i find the card system cheap for a few reasons. -

EX 1: you're winning a game perfectly, then your opponent uses balence Hp and refill specials bar. he uses the normally limited super 50 times and kills you with no skill. While i did this for some time myself, after you manage you get a little better this soon becomes a nuisance. Besides the card system ( you can also upgrade cards from level 1-4, but more on that later).

-Import difficulty: So you're saying, " but it''''s in all jap, how am i supposed to play this!?". Well my user that''s very-very simple. Much like all import games, at first you'll need a faq. I used Gamefaqs- faq for this and it worked well. After you gain the initial knowledge of the menus (which Ichigo or any other unlockable voice alls out in English incentively), the game's menus become a second nature. The only part after you get the gist of the game you'll need help with is Ichigos story mode. It requires you to do specials actions to win, but as i said, the gamefaqs guide helps.

-UNLOCKABLES: Well there's quite a few to just understate it. At first you have 8 characters: Ichigo, byuakkua , Hitsu , Hinamori ,Renjii , kommora. I know that's 6 but find out the rest yourself =p. Also in the urahara's shop menu, you can buy new cards from level 1-4 ( they last longer, more effect damage, etc). You can also buy system voices, New ccharacters colors, Music , voice clips ,and other sweet things.

Review scores:

8.5
Graphics rating
They're 2D, but the art style is clear, and the animation is truly clear for each character.
7.9
Sound rating
Impressive vocals, and decent (even though theyre generic) sound effects
7.9
Playability rating
Back to basics combo styles. Practice pays off in the long run, but you'll have sore thumbs from learning.
8.5
Lastability rating
Great characters, and potentially 100's of combos to perfect will keep you coming back.
8.5
Edge rating
They're 2D, but the art style is clear, and the animation is truly clear for each character.
